JPM - ETHE: Realistically Assessing Opportunities By Analyzing Some Notable Market Events

• Cryptos are proving to be a highly volatile asset class with the Grayscale Ethereum Trust falling down by more than 30% since January 1, amid escalation in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
• This volatility is not limited to digital coins, and, filtering out all the noise created by the wider market sell-off, I identify three events that seem to be determining Ethereum's path.
• These market events pertain to metaverse moves, ETHE starting to show an inverse correlation to a bullish dollar fund, and its alignment with tech being put into question.
• Ethereum has more uses compared to Bitcoin but in view of forthcoming regulatory moves, it would be better not to buy the dip despite ETHE trading at a discount to NAV.
• This thesis aims to provide a realistic view of opportunities in highly uncertain market conditions based on market events and sustained price actions.
