FGM - European stocks choppy after UK inflation surpasses expectations; Fed rate decision due

The pan-European Stoxx 600 was up 0.2%, with sectors mixed. Retail stocks ticked higher while telecom stocks were down.

Eurozone January current account balance €17.0 billion vs €15.9 billion prior.

Coming up in the session: The Bank of England will have its monetary policy meeting on Thursday, where the latest figures, as well as recent market volatility, will be front of mind.

The ECB last week hiked rates by 50 basis points.

In the bond market, the yield on 10-year Treasuries was down more than two basis point to 3.58%.

Germany’s 10-year yield was up more than three basis points to 2.30%.

Britain’s 10-year yield was up more than seven basis points to 3.44%.
