SAVE - FAA temporarily paused flights at major Florida airports amid radar issue
2023-03-06 15:54:13 ET
The FAA paused traffic at both Jacksonville and Miami airports amid a traffic control issue on Monday afternoon, according to a safety notice.
The notice indicated that both airports were “heavily impacted” by a radar issue, causing a ground stop at the airports. All air traffic was advised to avoid landing or traversing the air space around the airports as well due to ATC Zero status at both locations.
The restrictions were lifted one hour and seven minutes after being initiated as the FAA indicated the radar issue had been resolved. According to Flightview, airports across the state are experiencing elevated levels of delays following the issue. Orlando International, Tampa International, Sarasota Bradenton, and Palm Beach International were noted as airports also experiencing major delays.
