FB - Facebook freezing its political giving after Capitol attack - Axios
Facebook (FB -2.8%) is freezing its political spending for at least the first quarter, following the turmoil of last week's U.S. Capitol attack, Axios reports. The company's political action committee will halt all contributions, and it will launch a review of its spending practices. Facebook is one of many major banks and companies freezing its political giving now. But the social giant's decision is likely a bellwether for other big tech firms likely to do so as well (and could presage a possible end to technology PACs). Tech PACs have traditionally given to candidates from both the Republican and Democratic parties - a contribution approach which has increasingly been opposed by progressive workers in Silicon Valley.
