MCAAU - FC Barcelona in talks to take its digital business public through SPAC

  • Famed soccer club FC Barcelona is in talks with Swiss private equity firm Mountain Partners about a transaction to list certain of its businesses through a SPAC deal.
  • FC Barcelona may merge its digital business with SPAC Mountain & Co. I Acquisition ( NASDAQ: MCAA ), according to a report in Expansion on Friday, which cited people familiar with the matter. The football club plans to keep an 80% stake in the company, with the SPAC owning the remainder.
  • The deal would value the digital media unit at about 1 billion euros ($1.09 billion), Expansion reported.
  • Mountain & Co. I ( NASDAQ: MCAAU ) rose 1.2% in trading on Friday.
