The FDA approves Cerus' (CERS) Intercept Blood System for cryoprecipitation, specifically for producing pathogen-reduced cryoprecipitated fibrinogen complex for the treatment and control of bleeding, including massive hemorrhage, associated with fibrinogen deficiency.Fibrinogen is a protein that plays an essential role in blood clotting.The FDA OK'd the pathogen-reducing device in 2014 for plasma and single donor apheresis platelets.Shares up 7% premarket on light volume.
