SANA - Former FDA Commissioner Hahn joins VC firm that helped launch Moderna
Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images News Stephen Hahn, an oncologist who served as FDA commissioner as the Trump administration dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic, has joined venture capital firm Flagship Pioneering as a chief medical officer. Hahn will lead Flagship's Preemptive Medicine and Health Security initiative beginning on Wednesday. More than a decade ago, Flagship helped incubate Moderna (MRNA), supporting its efforts to develop mRNA medicines. Since its 2000 launch, Flagship has invested more than $2.4B towards starting and helping grow companies. Other publicly traded companies Flagship has invested in include Denali Therapeutics (DNLI), Rubius Therapeutics (RUBY), Sana Biotechnology (SANA), and Seres Therapeutics (MCRB).
