FSUMF - Fortescue Metals says CEO Gaines to step down in move to renewables
Fortescue Metals (OTCQX:FSUMF) says CEO Elizabeth Gaines will transition from the CEO role, as the company moves from a pure play iron ore producer into a diversified renewables and resources group. Gaines has been Fortescue's CEO since 2018 and has been a member of its board since 2013. Fortescue says she will remain on Fortescue's board as a non-executive director and assist in the search for her successor. Fortescue says it will seek out a new CEO and other leaders with "global experience across heavy industry, manufacturing and renewable energy." Seeking Alpha contributor Ben Clarence notes the company's investment in Fortescue Future Industries hydrogen power will create the world's first "green iron ore."
