SSEZY - GE named preferred turbine supplier for world's biggest offshore wind farm
General Electric's ([[GE]] +1.2%) renewable energy division says it was chosen as the preferred turbine supplier for the third and final phase of the Dogger Bank wind farm off the northeast U.K. coast.As part of the turbine supply agreement, which is expected to be finalized in Q1, GE will provide a 14 MW version of its huge Haliade-X turbine, after the first two phases, Dogger Bank A and B, use a 13 MW version.Turbine innovation has "played a huge role in bringing down the cost of offshore wind," says Halfdan Brustad, VP for Dogger Bank at Equinor ([[EQNR]] -0.1%), one of the project's partners.
