JNJ - HHS puts J&J in charge of Emergent BioSolutions plant behind vaccine foul-up - NYT
The Biden administration has put Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) in charge of the Emergent BioSolutions (EBS) beleaguered Baltimore plant that ruined 15M doses of the company's COVID-19 vaccine, according to a report in The New York Times.The newspaper says HHS made the move to avoid further foul-ups and J&J confirmed the change.Earlier this week, the Times reported that human error led to the accidental mixing of ingredients for both the J&J COVID-19 vaccine and AstraZeneca's (AZN) vaccine.On Thursday, the Associated Press reported that the same Baltimore Emergent facility was cited for manufacturing lapses last year.The Emergent plant was built with the help of taxpayer funds and is known as a HHS-designated Center for Innovation in Advanced Development and Manufacturing.
