PASS - Holiday shopping to look quite different this year
ShopperTrak forecasts in-store traffic for the six-week holiday season will be down between 22% and 25%. Black Friday (November 27), Super Saturday (December 19) and the day after Christmas (December 26) are expected to be the three busiest shopping days of the year. Many retailers are closing their days this year for Thanksgiving. The outlook for this year's holiday season might be considered a surprise considering store traffic was down as much as 82% in April and just recently improved to -25.7% for the week ended September 19. Analysts expect a notable pull-forward of some holiday sales this year, with Amazon ([[AMZN]] -2.6%), Walmart ([[WMT]] -0.6%) and Target ([[TGT]] -2.0%) all holding special shopping events this month.Retail ETFs: [[XLY]], [[XRT]], [[VCR]], [[FDIS]], [[RTH]], [[RETL]], [[EMTY]], [[WANT]], [[FXD]], [[PASS]], [[RCD]], [[JHMC]], [[FTXD]]
