BROS - Hot Stocks: Gold stocks drop; BROS keeps brewing; SPIR takes off; bad data for AERI SBTX
Commodity prices have played a significant role on Wall Street this week -- a trend that continued Thursday as a drop in gold sparked a slide in mining stocks. Newmont (NYSE:NEM), Barrick Gold (NYSE:GOLD), Kinross Gold (NYSE:KGC) and Agnico Eagle Mines (NYSE:AEM) all staged notable retreats. Elsewhere, a couple of drug developers suffered significant setbacks on Thursday. Aerie Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:AERI) and Silverback Therapeutics (NASDAQ:SBTX) both dropped more than 20% on separate clinical trial disappointments. With the retreat, SBTX reached a new 52-week low. Looking at some of the day's best performers, volatile Spire Global (NYSE:SPIR) posted a double-digit percentage gain on the session as Elon Musk's SpaceX brought attention to the space sector. Highly caffeinated IPO Dutch Bros. (NYSE:BROS) also scored another of the day's major advances, rising again in its second day as a public company.
