RRD - Hot Stocks: Telecoms fall; HUBS hits high; AMGN sets low; COLB drops on merger; RRD jumps on takeover bid
As the major averages edged slightly lower on Tuesday, the big telecom players, AT&T (NYSE:T) and Verizon (NYSE:VZ), were among the notable leaders to the downside. The stocks dropped after Barclays issued a pessimistic report. Columbia Banking (NASDAQ:COLB) also suffered notable downward pressure during the session. News of an all-stock merger deal sparked a double-digit decline in its shares. Meanwhile, Amgen (NASDAQ:AMGN) added to its recent weakness, setting another 52-week low. On the other side of the ledger, shares R. R. Donnelley & Sons (NYSE:RRD) expanded their value by more than a third. The rally came as the company received a takeover offer from its largest shareholder. HubSpot (NYSE:HUBS) was another standout gainer on the session.
