About three weeks ago I suggested that income-oriented investors like me may want to consider adding shares of some REITs to their portfolio as the Fed decides to lower interest rates. In my recent review of Cohen & Steers Quality Income Realty Fund (RQI), I suggested that income investors may want to consider adding some shares if the Fed did decide to reduce rates at the September meeting, which they subsequently did , by 25 bps. This was what I wrote in that September 17 article:
IGR: Collect High Yield Income From Global Real Estate As Interest Rates DropCurrently, RQI offers investors a distribution yield of about 7.5% and trades at a slight discount to NAV of about -2.5%. I rate the fund a Hold and recommend that income investors consider adding shares if interest rates do come down further, as that should help to boost the values of the underlying fund holdings.
