Insurer American Equity Investment Life Holding Co. ( NYSE: AEL ) surged 11% in regulator trading on Monday after a report that Brookfield is close to an agreement to acquire the company. AEL rose 6.5% i n after hours trading.
Brookfield Reinsurance ( BNRE ) made a cash and stock offer that's expected to be recommended by the American Equity ( AEL ) board, according to traders, who cited a Bloomberg report. A deal could be announced as soon as Monday.
