BINFF - Inter Pipeline's Strategic Update Falls Flat While Brookfield's Buyout Bid Is Waiting In The Wings
- In February, Inter Pipeline shareholders received a formal hostile buyout bid from Brookfield Infrastructure Partners for C$16.50/share.
- Brookfield said it would consider raising the bid to $18.25 if IPL would engage in constructive discussions and open the books on the Heartland Petrochemical Complex.
- Meanwhile, IPL management encouraged investors not to sell their stock to Brookfield and said it would undergo a strategic review to "maximize shareholder value".
- Yet IPL's latest strategic update on HPC was underwhelming and no partner was announced. As a result, the stock did not budge.
- As a result, and as a long-suffering IPL shareholder, I am hoping Brookfield is successful in its attempt to takeover IPL.
