UEC - InvestorNewsBreaks - Uranium Energy Corp. (NYSE American: UEC) Begins Assessment Economic Study Environmental Baseline Program for Roughrider Project
Uranium Energy (NYSE American: UEC), a U.S.-based uranium mining and exploration company, is partnering with SLR Consulting (Canada) Ltd. and Wood (Canada) Ltd. to conduct an S-K 1300 Initial Assessment Economic Study. The study will be for UEC’s 100% owned Roughrider Project. The company also reported that Canada North Environmental Services will conduct environmental baseline work for the same project. The results of these studies will be combined with prior work and studies done by the project’s previous owner, Rio Tinto, to make decisions about further planned development work. That previous work included a technical, community engagement and an environmental assessment and review process. According to the announcement, SLR will lead UEC’s S-K 1300 IAES for the project, which will focus on the capital and operating costs, construction and production schedule of the Roughrider Project, while Wood will be designing a uranium processing facility.
A conventional uranium project located in the eastern Athabasca Basin of northern Saskatchewan, the Roughrider Project is one of the world's premier uranium mining jurisdictions. “Prior owners of Roughrider, Hathor and Rio Tinto, did not have the benefit of the regional scale and portfolio that UEC has created by acquiring UEX and the exciting growth-oriented and resource-stage projects in Christie Lake, Horseshoe Raven and Hidden Bay,” said Uranium Energy president and CEO Amir Adnani in the press release. “This allows us to evaluate and explore both the potential at Roughrider in addition to regional synergies for a hub-and-spoke model.
