IO - ION Geophysical +17% on initial Gemini deployment

ION Geophysical (IO) +17.1% post-market after saying its Gemini extended frequency source technology was commercially deployed for the first time, by an unnamed oil supermajor.Following the technology's commercialization in September, ION says energy companies have specified Gemini in a number of proprietary tenders, the first of which is expected to begin this month."This award demonstrates the value of our innovative Gemini technology to help energy companies optimize exploration and development decisions for the most promising prospects in their portfolios," the company says.IO shares have plunged 71% over the past year but would bounce to a five-month high if indicated gains from the news continue to hold.
