JBHT - J.B. Hunt stock drives lower after earnings miss
J.B. Hunt Transport Services ( NASDAQ: JBHT ) stock slid on Wednesday after the trucking giant missed Q4 earnings expectations by a wide margin.
The Arkansas-based posted $1.92 in earnings per share for the quarter on $3.65B in revenue. Those figures missed estimates by $0.52 and $140M, respectively. The company blamed a 27% decline in volume for the Integrated Capacity Solutions and a 1% decline in volume for the Intermodal business.
“Demand for intermodal capacity was seasonally weak in the fourth quarter, while rail velocity and performance made further progress,” the company explained. “Customer activity related to the detention of equipment also improved sequentially but continued to impact dray and network efficiencies.”
Shares of the transportation company fell 4.14% on light volume following the print.
