SJM - J.M. Smucker gains after navigating through supply chain and inflation headwinds
J.M. Smucker (NYSE:SJM) jumps in early trading after better-than-anticipated FQ2 earnings led to a boost in guidance. Sales were up 1% in the quarter and adjusted operating income fell 5% amid cost inflation and supply chain disruption. The SJM quarter featured higher demand trends, incremental pricing actions and slightly lower SD&A partially offset by a lower gross margin, notes Bank of America analyst Bryan Spillane. Shares of J.M. Smucker (SJM) are up 2.62% premarket to $129.75 after the improved guidance.
