SJM - J.M. Smucker to invest $1.1B to build Smucker's Uncrustables manufacturing facility in McCalla
J.M. Smucker (NYSE:SJM) has announced a $1.1B investment to build a new manufacturing facility and distribution center in McCalla, Alabama. The new facility will be dedicated to production of Smucker's Uncrustables sandwiches, with production slated to commence in 2025. Construction of the facility is expected to begin no later than January 2022. The McCalla facility will be the third manufacturing site dedicated to the Smucker's Uncrustables brand. The facility, along with an expansion at the Longmont location, will support the firm's strategy to more than double its current production capacity. The brand has been generating ~$500M in annual net sales, demonstrating double-digit net sales growth annually over the past decade. The growth is driven by ongoing demand for the frozen handheld sandwich. With increased production capacity, J.M. Smucker expects to expand the brand's annual net sales to ~$1B over the next five years.
