JBL - Jabil slips as India unit reportedly starts making AirPods components
- Jabil ( NYSE: JBL ) slipped fractionally in premarket trading on Monday even as it was reported that the company's India unit has started making Apple ( NASDAQ: AAPL ) AirPods components in India.
- The company is shipping the plastic bodies for AirPods to China and Vietnam for final assembly, Bloomberg reported , citing people familiar with the matter.
- Apple ( AAPL ) has increased its focus on manufacturing in India in recent years as it looks to shift production out of China amid geopolitical tensions and COVID-19 related disruptions.
- Investment firm J.P. Morgan said last year that Apple ( AAPL ) could shift 25% of its iPhone production to India by 2025, up from roughly 5%.
- Last week, Jabil ( JBL ) declared its quarterly dividend, payable to shareholders on March 2 on record of February 15 .
