RDI - James Bond film moves to 2021 in latest blow to theaters
The release of the latest film about superspy James Bond, No Time to Die, is being postponed again - this time to April, 2021. It had been moved to a Nov. 25 release from a previous plan for April 2, 2020. Now its filmmakers, MGM (MGMB), Universal (CMCSA) and producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are delaying it again. And after other recent high-profile fall postponements, it was the key big-budget film release remaining between now and December. (Wonder Woman 1984 and Dune (T) are set for December release, though it would surprise nobody if those films are delayed yet again.) The top film on release calendars pre-December is now Pixar (DIS) release Soul, set for Nov. 20. And that means a longer dry spell for struggling theaters: [[AMC]], Regal/Cineworld (CNWGY), Cinemark (CNK), [[IMAX]], Marcus (MCS), and Reading International (RDI), as well as in-cinema advertiser National CineMedia (NCMI).
