Tokyo’s core inflation rate, a leading indicator for nationwide price trends, slowed to 2.1% in December from 2.3% in November, as widely expected, but remained above the Bank of Japan’s 2% target for the 19th consecutive month.

Tokyo’s headline inflation also slowed to 2.4% in December from 2.6% in November.
