KAOOY - Jergens Lotions Recalled Amid Potential Bacterial Infection

Kao Corporation (OTCMKTS: KAOOY) , owner of several skincare and haircare brands including Jergens, announced the recall of Jergens Ultra Healing products. The company is asking that customers check their bottles and determine if they apply for the recall.

Within a statement, Kao USA revealed that several units of the Jergens Ultra Healing Moisturizer could contain Pluralibacter gergoviae, “a bacterium which typically poses little medical risk to healthy people. However, people who have certain health problems such as weakened immune systems may be more susceptible to infections.”

According to the FDA, bottles made between Oct 1, 2022 and Oct 18, 2021, have the possibility of containing the bacteria. Additionally, the company says the products are being pulled from shelves and warehouses.

“We are working with our partners on improved cleaning and sanitization practices so that similar issues can be prevented in the future,” the company said in a statement.

Customers are able to find out if their moisturizer is one of the affected products by looking at the lot codes on the back of the bottles. Each code begins with “ZU.”

Lot codes for the affected 3 ounce size include: ZU712851, ZU712871, ZU712911, ZU722881, ZU712861, ZU712881 and ZU722851. Furthermore, affected 10 ounce bottles include ZU722741, ZU722781, ZU732791, ZU732811, ZU722771, ZU732781, ZU732801 and ZU732821.
