KSU - Kansas City Southern to begin talks with Canadian National on offer

Canadian National Railway (CNI) will begin negotiations with Kansas City Southern (KSU) after the company's board determined that the CNI offer is likely to lead to a "superior" bid than Canadian Pacific's (CP) deal.Kansas City Southern intends to provide Canadian National with nonpublic information and to engage in discussions and negotiations with CNI with respect to CN’Is proposal, according to a statement.Earlier this week, Canadian Pacific CEO called Canadian National's rival bid for KSU 'fantasy land.Yesterday, Congressman Peter DeFazio (D-Oregon) said a proposed railroad merger should set off "alarm bells" and will leave the U.S. economy "worse off.
