LH - Labcorp launches new test to identify and confirm neurodegenerative disease

• Laboratory Corporation of America ( NYSE: LH ), or Labcorp, on Wednesday said it is launching a test that provides direct evidence of neural injury or neurodegeneration.
• Labcorp ( LH ) said the blood test, known as Neurofilament Light Chain (NfL), will allow doctors to assist in the diagnosis of diseases such as multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and concussions, as elevated NfL levels signal neural injury.
• LH said the new test can be performed from a standard blood collection that can be done at a hospital, physician’s office or at any of LH's nearly 2K patient service centers.
• Health care providers will be able to order the test beginning Wednesday.
• LH stock closed 1.1% lower at $239.91 on Tuesday.
