LNTH - Lantheus teams up with Insightec in acoustic energy treatments for brain tumors and neurodegenerative conditions
Lantheus Holdings (LNTH) will collaborate with privately held Haifa, Israel-based Insightec Ltd. to evaluate the use of LNTH's microbubbles, combined with Insightec's investigational MR-guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS) platform, for the treatment of glioblastoma and neurodegenerative conditions. The MRgFUS platform is designed to deliver ultrasound energy deep into the brain with no incisions. The investigation will focus on the use of microbubbles, combined with focused ultrasound, to temporarily disrupt the blood-brain barrier to potentially allow for the more effective delivery of chemo agents to treat glioblastoma, an aggressive cancer in the brain or spinal cord.Under the terms of the partnership, LNTH will supply the microbubbles and activation devices while Insightec will responsible for regulatory filings and commercialization. LNTH will receive an undisclosed transfer price and royalties.
