Last week saw the passing of Belgian billionaire investor Baron Albert Frère at age 92. Frère was honorary chairman of Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (GBLBF) (GBLBY), the company that he had been controlling and leading since 1982 until he resigned from the active management of the group in 2015. I will refer to the company as "GBL" in the following.
Today, GBL is led by Co-CEOs Gerard Lamarche and Ian Galienne (who happens to be married to Baron Frère's daughter Segolene). Frère's son Gèrald is Chairman of the company's board of directors.
