LPL - LG Display reveals next-gen OLED tech for clearer colors announces smallest model for current TV lineup
As the all-virtual CES 2021 kicks off, LG Display (LPL) reveals a next-generation 77-inch OLED display that includes a new organic material and an additional emission layer, which combine to increase efficiency by 20% for brighter, clearer colors.LG plans to apply the tech to high-end TV models that will launch this year and then gradually expand the adoption.The company plans to add an 82-inch and 42-inch model to the existing OLED lineup starting this year with the latter serving as the new smallest size.LG will also "significantly expand" its mid-range TV display lineup down to the 20-30 inch range, which opens up gaming, mobility, and personal device options.LPL share are down 1.2% pre-market to $9.10.
