DLAKY - Lufthansa to test pre-flight corona tests to attract long-haul travelers

To target re-visit by long-haul passengers, Lufthansa ([[DLAKY]] -3.8%) announced the testing of offering on-the-spot coronavirus tests before boarding intercontinental flights.It is underway talks with partners in the pharmaceutical industry to obtain an accurate test that could provide results within 15 minutes for $12.Tests on some routes to U.S. are scheduled to commence in October; practice depending on government approval.The step is in-line with the IATA industry association to use testing as a replacement for quarantines thereby attracting travelers.Amid the pandemic, Lufthansa won a €9B government bailout; however announced an additional round of cuts post vacation travel dwindled in September. Lufthansa parked its jumbo jets and has plans to eliminate 22K full-time positions.
