LUNMF - Lundin set to shut Candelaria mine operations as two unions strike
Lundin Mining (LUNMF) says it will suspend operations at its Candelaria copper mine in Chile, after failing to reach new labor contracts with two of its workers' unions.Candelaria's "Mine Union" began a strike on Oct. 8, while the "Candelaria Union" says it will down tools beginning Oct. 20.Candelaria produced 111.4K metric tons of copper in 2019 and had reached 74.2K mt in the first eight months of this year.But the union of supervisors at BHP's Escondida mine in Chile - the world's largest copper deposit - reached an agreement on a labor deal last week, averting the threat of a strike.
