Manufacturing and housing sectors turned white hot this month, with both construction spending and ISM manufacturing data at levels not seen in years.
The overall ISM manufacturing reading rose from 58.7 to 60.8, tying the highest reading since the Great Recession, and indeed since 2004.
Turning to construction, in January spending for residential construction surged even further, up 2.5% for the month. This was the highest nominal reading ever.
