• Investing in Marathon Petroleum Corp has proved to be a marathon for us, but one that ends with a big smile.
• The energy sector as a whole, including refineries, is doing great, but MPC has been performing way better than the benchmark.
• As expected, Q4/2021 earnings came in strong, and we've lifted our price target by over 10%. Subject to oil prices, we believe there may be room for further improvement.
• Nonetheless, as the stock approaches our (current) price target, we take some extra/cautious measures, as we start heading (still, very slowly) towards the exit door.
