SONY - Marvel's 'Eternals' repeats atop box-office while 'Venom 2' passes $200 million
Marvel's (NYSE:DIS) Eternals repeated as top of the heap at the weekend box office, largely as expected, while its big red competition put up a surprisingly strong outing. Eternals drew $27.5 million, to cross the $100 million mark domestically, a slightly bigger week-to-week drop than was seen with Marvel's last film (and the year's leader), Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Paramount's (VIAC, VIACA) Clifford the Big Red Dog, meanwhile, posted up with $16.4 million for second place - a nice start considering its simultaneous availability on Paramount+, and the difficulties family films are finding at the theater with so many children unvaccinated against COVID-19. Given its Wednesday opening, the film has grossed $22 million in its five days so far. And Dune (NYSE:T) pulled in $5.5 million in its fourth week of release, bringing its cumulative domestic total to $93.2 million. It's grossed $352.8 million worldwide. Rounding
