Mortgage rates fell as inflation slowed, according to the Freddie Mac Primary Mortgage Survey. 30-year fixed-rate mortgages averaged 6.78% during the week ending July 20, down from last week when they averaged 6.96% and up from 5.54% a year ago. 15-year fixed-rate mortgages averaged 6.06%, below 6.30% from last week and higher than 4.75% in the year-ago period. "As inflation slows, mortgage rates decreased this week," Freddie Mac's chief economist, Sam Khater, said. For further details see:
