MSGS - MSG knocks down reports that Knicks Rangers sales are near
- Madison Square Garden Sports ( NYSE: MSGS ) is tamping down reports that owner James Dolan could look to unload the New York Knicks and/or New York Rangers, saying " We have no plans to sell either of the teams."
- That follows an opinion from analyst Jonathan Boyar that MSGS was likely to offload the teams once sister company MSG Entertainment ( NYSE: MSGE ) completes its MSG Sphere events venue in Las Vegas.
- "We think it's likely that after that is done, James Dolan, who controls the company, will sell the teams," Boyar said Monday, pointing to interest from private-equity minority shareholders including Silver Lake and Egyptian billionaire Nassef Sawiris.
- That doesn't look to be in the cards for now, disappointing some Knicks fans who have been clamoring for new ownership.
