MSGS - MSG Networks launches streaming service free ad-supported channel
MSG Networks - part of Madison Square Garden Entertainment ( NYSE: MSGE ) - is joining the list of regional sports networks establishing a foothold in the streaming world.
The company is launching MSG+ in the summer - a streaming platform that will show games it produces from the New York Knicks basketball team; and the New York Rangers, New York Islands, New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres hockey teams.
It's also rolling out MSG SportsZone, a free ad-supported streaming television channel that will expose the company's sports brands to a wider audience.
Fans who don't subscribe to traditional pay TV can subscribe to MSG+ on a direct-to-consumer basis for $29.99 per month or $309.99 per year. The service will show the Knicks and NHL games as well as other live sports, events and programming included on area networks.
Viewers can also buy by the game, paying $9.99 to see a single game from one of the teams.
Meanwhile, MSG+ will be available at no charge to participating pay TV providers, replacing the authenticated "TV Everywhere" service MSG GO.
The FAST channel, MSG SportsZone, is currently available on Vizio and Plex with more platforms on the way, the company said.
