NDAQ - Nasdaq top boss Friedman to take on role of board chair

  • Nasdaq ( NASDAQ: NDAQ ) on Monday said its CEO Adena Friedman would assume the additional role of board chair.
  • Shares of the exchange operator rose 2.4% to $61.91 after hours.
  • NDAQ's board unanimously elected Friedman to the role, effective Jan. 1, 2023.
  • "Friedman succeeds Michael R. Splinter, who has been elected Lead Independent Director," NDAQ said in a statement .
  • Friedman has served as NDAQ's president and CEO and has been a member of the board of directors since Jan. 2017.
