GAZB - Natural Gas Continues To Lose Its Share In The Electric Power Sector

• The share of total electricity supplied by natural gas-fired power plants remains significant, but is getting smaller.
• In less than 11 months, renewables will probably be providing more electricity to U.S consumers than coal-fired power plants.
• The monthly net impact of non-degree-day factors on natural gas consumption in the Electric Power sector is now bearish (vs. 2020).
• This March wind, hydro, and solar generation will displace no less than 7.0 bcf/d of potential natural gas consumption in the Electric Power sector.
• However, we estimate that total natural gas supply-demand balance in March will be tighter than last year by around -4.8 bcf/day - mostly due to colder weather.
