One news item that I noticed has been underreported has been the decision by NB Bancorp ( NBBK ) and Provident Bancorp ( PVBC ) to merge. About a month ago, the companies entered into an agreement whereby NB Bancorp has decided to absorb Provident Bancorp in a cash and stock deal initially valued at $211.8 million. This is a rather interesting transaction because it will see NB Bancorp absorb a company that, in recent times, has experienced some weakness across the board. This definitely exposes investors to risk. But at the end of the day, there's also a lot of opportunity here for value creation for shareholders....
