New data seen by The Information suggests regular viewers of streaming service Peacock (CMCSA) are somewhat smaller than the sign-ups number that the company usually touts - and that's leading to more pressure to partner on content, again raising speculation about the benefits of a merger of NBCUniversal with the likes of WarnerMedia (T). The idea of creating a content megamerger between NBCU and WarnerMedia isn't new speculation - LightShed Partners and Cowen have each tossed the idea around in recent weeks - but the content partnerships NBCU is seeking may add some new urgency to such a deal. Only 11.3M households regularly watch Peacock, according to internal documents - far short of rivals who are are cementing their user leads, namely Netflix (NFLX) and Disney (DIS).
