The Carlin Gold Trend in Nevada continues to prove its reputation as one of the world's most prolific gold-producing regions, with exploration companies making significant discoveries that validate the area's massive resource potential. Shareholders of Phenom Resources Corp. ( TSX-V: PHNM ) ( OTCQX: PHNMF ) responded enthusiastically to today's announcement of first-ever gold assays from bedrock sampling at its Dobbin Gold Project, sending shares higher on the day. The company reported impressive results from shallow trenching work that exposed bedrock within a massive 2.1-kilometer-long gold soil anomaly, delivering characteristic grades and continuity typical of a Carlin gold system.
The initial bedrock sampling program involved seven hand-dug trenches that successfully exposed mineralization beneath thin soil cover. Key highlights include consistently strong gold values averaging 0.545 g/t Au across 16 meters from one trench, two consecutive high-grade samples of 10.35 g/t Au and 2.11 g/t Au from a second trench, and consistently strong values averaging 0.274 g/t Au across 24 meters from a third trench. The results demonstrate both grade consistency and continuity across the mineralized system.
"This is the first glimpse into the character of mineralization associated with the large gold soil anomaly with very encouraging results even with this small sampling of a large system," stated Dave Mathewson, director and Geological Consultant to the Company. The trenching work was conducted while the company advances permitting for its first phase drill program, providing valuable data on the system's characteristics ahead of more extensive exploration.
The seven trenches were strategically positioned perpendicular to the soil anomaly trend and distributed along a 550-meter length of the anomaly. Individual 2-meter chip samples consistently returned anomalous gold values, with soil cover proving to be remarkably thin at only 0.5 to 0.75 meters thick. This shallow overburden could significantly reduce future mining costs if the system proves economic.
Phenom's Dobbin Gold Project lies within the prolific Carlin Gold Trend, where approximately 9 million ounces of gold comprised of multiple deposits are present near the company's property. The company also holds 100% interest in the Carlin Gold-Vanadium Project, which hosts North America's largest highest-grade primary vanadium resource.
Canadian shares of PHNM are up 11.11% to $0.25 in early morning trading Wednesday, while U.S.-listed shares of PHNMF have gained 14.04% to $0.1865.
