UAA - Nike leads strong day for footwear stocks

Nike ( NYSE: NKE ) was the biggest advancer of the Dow 30 stocks in late Wednesday morning with a 4.78% push higher. Within the athletic apparel sector, notable gains were also recorded for Allbirds ( BIRD ) +5.38% , Deckers Outdoor ( DECK ) +3.17% , Skechers U.S.A ( SKX ) +2.57% , Under Armour ( UAA ) +1.38% , Lululemon ( LULU ) +1.91% , and Foot Locker ( FL ) +1.49% .
The bounce back in the footwear stocks is being attributed to Google trends data and mall traffic numbers that came in slightly better than anticipated. Investors had been prepping for sluggish sales growth amid consumer discretionary spending worries.
