NTDOY - Nintendo buys CG production company will focus on 'development of visual content'
- Nintendo ( OTCPK:NTDOY ) announced on Thursday that it had entered into an agreement with computer graphics production company Dynamo Pictures and that the new subsidiary will “focus on development of visual content utilizing Nintendo IP."
- Nintendo added that Dynamo Pictures will be renamed Nintendo Pictures and it expects the transaction to close on October 3, 2022, "pending satisfaction of all relevant terms and customary closing conditions."
- Nintendo ( OTCPK:NTDOY ) shares fell 1.5% to $53.84 in early trading on Thursday.
- The acquisition comes as Nintendo ( OTCPK:NTDOY ) and Illumination/Universal ( CMCSA ) get set to launch an animated Super Mario movie, slated to be released in April 2023.
- The movie will feature the voices of Chris Pratt as Mario, along with several others, including Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black and Charles Martinet, who has voiced Mario and Luigi in video games since the early 1990s.
- Nintendo ( OTCPK:NTDOY ) recently updated its corporate social responsibility guidelines and said it will give benefits to employees in same-sex domestic partnerships, despite the fact Japan outlaws gay marriage .
