Following the pattern of the past several months, the number of mortgages in active forbearance declined at the beginning of the month, driven by month-end plan expirations, according to the Black Knight McDash Flash Forbearance Tracker.The number of mortgages in active forbearance fell by 45K, or 1.6%, this week. Next week there could be another big crop of plans removed from forbearance as there were 47K plans with Jan. 31 expiration dates that servicers were still reviewing for extension or removal as of Feb. 2.As of Feb. 2, some 2.72M homeowners, or 5.1% of mortgages, remain in active COVID-19-related forbearance plans. That's the smallest number since late April.
