VIACA - Paramount delaying 'Top Gun' 'Mission: Impossible' films by months
In a time when major movie delays seemed to be a thing of the past - or at least earlier in 2021 and 2020 - Paramount ([[VIAC]] -0.9%, [[VIACA]] -0.1%) has done some more pushing back of its planned Tom Cruise blockbusters. Previously delayed Top Gun: Maverick (a sequel to the 1986 hit) will now bow on Nov. 19, a four-month delay from a planned July 2 opening. And Mission: Impossible 7, which was set for Nov. 19, will move out to May 27, 2022. It will be followed by Mission: Impossible 8, set for July 7, 2023. Other delays include G.I. Joe spinoff Snake Eyes, moving to July 23, 2021 from an Oct. 22 release; and Dungeons & Dragons, settling in for a 10-month delay to March 3, 2023. Meanwhile, the studio has added a currently untitled Star Trek feature film to the calendar for June 9, 2023.
