Introduction
PIMCO Corporate & Income Strategy Fund ( PCN ) is a closed-end fund designed to deliver high income on a sustained basis. It is listed on the stock exchange as a share, but at its core is a portfolio of bonds and loans managed by PIMCO. This structure is important because, as it has fixed capital, the manager does not suffer from daily inflows and outflows like an open-ended fund; it can take positions with more patience and also use leverage to amplify the return on assets. The market price rises and falls based on supply and demand and does not always match the net asset value (NAV). Sometimes it trades at a discount and sometimes at a premium; that spread can add to or detract from the portfolio's performance....
