PMT - PennyMac chairman dies from COVID complications

PennyMac Mortgage Investment Trust ([[PMT]] -0.4%) and PennyMac Financial Services ([[PFSI]] +1.4%) report that their founder and non-executive chairman, Stanford L. Kurland, died from complications related to COVID-19.Kurland had also been battling brain cancer, the companies said.He founded PennyMac in partnership with BlackRock Mortgage Partners and HC Partners in 2008. He served as chairman and CEO until 2016 when he became executive chairman.In 2020, he retired from day-to-day responsibilities.Kurland started his career in 1975 as a CPA for the firm now called Grant Thornton. He spent 27 years at Countrywide Financial until his departure in 2006.
