PRGO - Perrigo OTC birth control pill endorsed by FDA committees

- A panel of advisors to the US FDA voted unanimously that the benefits of Perrigo's ( NYSE: PRGO ) over-the-counter birth control pill Opill outweigh the risks.
- Members of the Nonprescription Drugs Advisory Committee and the Obstetrics, Reproductive, and Urologic Drugs Advisory Committee voted 17-0 .
- Opill contains norgestrel, which was first approved by the FDA in the early 1970s. If the FDA ultimately approves Opill, it would be the first birth control pill available over the counter .
